|Outline of Final Research Achievements
We investigated successive Kumada-Tamao catalyst-transfer condensation polymerization of Grignard monomer and introduction of functional groups at both ends by Suzuki-Miyaura coupling reaction with many kinds of isolable boronic acid esters in one pot. We found that a Pd catalyst with an N-heterocarbene ligand was available for this successive polymerization and end-functionalization. Furthermore, when poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) with a boronate at one end was used as a boronic acid ester, PMMA-polythiophene-PMMA triblock copolymer was successfully obtained.
