Outline of Final Research Achievements |
A portable alpha-ray spectrum survey meter was developed and improved. A 2000 mm^2 ion-implanted silicon with an aluminum honeycomb structure was adopted for the detector. As a result, the full width at half maximum (FWHM) was 123 keV and the full width at tenth maximum (FWTM) was 247 keV for electrodeposited Am-241 source, so it is possible to identify the 800 keV difference in alpha -ray energy between Ac-225 and Ra-226. In addition, it was suggested that the tailing effect of alpha-rays emitted from Ac-225 and progenies could be suppressed by adding a collimator, and Ra-226 mixed with Ac-225 could be detected. This measuring instrument is highly effective for use in the field of alpha-nuclide production and simplifies the identification method of alpha-nuclides.
