| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Using existing statistical data such as government statistics and Internet surveys, we promoted empirical epidemiological study to evaluate an impact of new tobacco products in Japan and established a platform for new tobacco research (see the JASTIS Study Profile paper). We compiled our findings into a book, "The Real Risks of New Tobacco and Tobacco-like Products: The Science of IQOS, Glo and PloomTech" and gave many conference presentations and lectures on new tobacco issues. By promoting these studies, we were able to provide policy makers and residents with information that will help ameliorate the new tobacco problem.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
新型タバコ問題の登場により日本のタバコ対策はすべての側面において困難になったと言える。本研究成果により、禁煙化や禁煙支援、値上げなどのそれぞれのタバコ対策における新型タバコ問題の影響が明らかとなり、自治体や企業などにおいてタバコ対策に取り組む場合に新型タバコ問題に対してどのように対応すればよいのか示唆を与えることができた。
新型タバコ研究を推進していくために必要な基盤を構築することができたため、将来の研究に対しても大きく貢献することができたものと考える。
