Outline of Annual Research Achievements

日米科学技術協力事業核融合分野プロジェクト研究PHENIX計画で中性子照射したW試料およびW-5at.%Re合金試料の陽電子寿命を測定し、Re添加により空孔型欠陥の消滅が著しく促進されていることを明らかにした。また、同様の試料を重水素(D)プラズマに曝露し、D保持量を昇温脱離法で調べ、W-5at.%Re合金試料の方がW試料に比べD保持量が著しく小さいことを見出した。
中性子照射は、米国オークリッジ国立研究所の研究炉HFIRで行った。照射温度と平均原子はじき出し回数は約550℃, 0.4回および約850℃, 0.7回ならびに約1050℃, 0.7回である。これらの試料を東北大学金属材料研究所附属量子エネルギー材料科学国際研究センターに輸送し、表面を電解研磨したのち、22Na線源を用いて陽電子寿命を測定した。Dプラズマ曝露は、米国アイダホ国立研究所の直線型プラズマ装置を用いて550℃で行った。
W試料の陽電子寿命は、中性子照射により、照射前の115 psから310 psに著しく増大した。これは、照射により原子空孔の集合体が形成されたためである。形成されている集合体の最大サイズは空孔約40個分程度であった。一方、W-5at.%Re合金試料の陽電子寿命は、照射前は138 psであったが、照射後も173 psに留まっていた。また、W試料のD保持量は中性子照射により5倍程度に増大したが、W-5at.%Re合金試料の保持量は照射後も未照射W試料と同程度であった。
以上のことより、昨年度までに重イオン照射で見出されていたRe添加による空孔型欠陥の消滅促進効果、およびそれによるD蓄積量抑制効果が、中性子照射下でも十分に発現することを確認した。この成果により、研究開始当初に設定した目標を、ほぼ全て達成した。
