Outline of Final Research Achievements

This study is concerning about the spherical calcium carbonate concretion yield from sedimentary rocks and we could reveal the rapid formation process and used this process to develop synthetic concretion resin developed with private chemical company as well as to get a patent. Now we have almost the last stage before to make commercial materials distributed in our society.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

本研究の成果の意義は、地下廃棄物処分や二酸化炭素地下貯留などの数千年以上に及ぶ長期隔離技術として、初めて応用化することのできる手法としてその成果を公表するに至っている。このコンクリーション化剤が、最終的に製品化された暁には、地下トンネルや深層ボーリングなどによる地下環境へのアプローチと安全な維持管理がより効率良く実現できるものと考えられる。
