Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本年度は、①スピンオービトロニクス、②反強磁性スピントロニクス、および③スピンカロリトロニクスの各研究項目について、以下の研究内容を実施した。
①スピンオービトロニクス: 2019年度から引き続き「非磁性層1 / 強磁性層 / 非磁性層2」の3層構造を基本とし、Pd/Co/Pt積層膜における界面磁気異方性とスピン軌道トルクの膜厚依存性について解析を進めた。第一原理計算の結果から、非対称構造では界面で生じるラシュバ磁場に起因した磁気異方性が出現することを確認し、Co膜厚の増加によって磁気異方性が減衰する傾向が再現された。これらの研究項目と並行して、Pt-NおよびPt-Oにおけるスピンホール効果の研究も行い、窒化あるいは酸化された界面におけるスピン軌道トルクの調査に着手した。
②反強磁性スピントロニクス:2019年度の研究において、Irを5%添加したCuが比較的大きなスピンホール効果を示すことが明らかとなった。2020年度は広範な組成領域へと研究を展開させ、コンビナトリアル成膜技術と動的熱イメージング手法を活用することでスピンホール効果が増大する非平衡組成Cu-Ir合金を発見した。また、反強磁性結合したPt/Co/Ir/Co/Pt構造において、スピン軌道トルク磁化反転を観測することに成功した。
③スピンカロリトロニクス: 2019年度に得られたNi/Pt人工格子における異常ネルンスト効果の増大に関して、物理的起源の探求を実験的に行い、第一原理計算との比較を行うことで増大するメカニズムの理解を進めることができた。また、Co2MnGaホイスラー合金とAlN絶縁層を組み合わせた人工格子の作製を行い、多結晶成長した薄膜であるにもかかわらずCo2MnGaバルク単結晶に匹敵する大きさの異常ネルンスト効果を得ることに成功した。

Reason

2020年度の研究内容に関して、研究項目毎に以下の内容を当初計画した。
①スピンオービトロニクス:非磁性層1/強磁性層/非磁性層2における界面磁気異方性とスピン軌道トルクの相関性の解明
②反強磁性スピントロニクス:反強磁性交換結合と大きなスピン軌道トルクを両立できる強磁性層/非磁性層/強磁性層構造の探索、スピン軌道トルクによる磁化スイッチング、反強磁性磁化ダイナミクスの解明
③スピンカロリトロニクス:スピン軌道相互作用が大きい金属人工格子における磁気熱電効果
上記の計画に沿って、実験と理論の比較から界面磁気異方性とスピン軌道トルクの相関性に関する理解を進め、非平衡組成における新しいスピンホール材料を発見し、反強磁性結合した人工格子においてスピン軌道トルク磁化反転を実現した。さらに、Ni/Pt人工格子における異常ネルンスト効果の増大機構の解明にも取り組み、規則合金と絶縁体を組み合わせた人工格子の異常ネルンスト効果へと研究を展開させている。よって、今年度の研究実施内容は計画を概ね達成するものであり、研究は順調に進展しているものと考えられる。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

①スピンオービトロニクス:「非磁性層1/強磁性層/非磁性層2」の3層構造を基本とする。これまでに得られたPd / Co / Ptにおける実験結果および第一原理計算を整理し詳細な比較をすることで、界面磁気異方性とスピン軌道トルク(SOT)の相関について統一的な理解を目指す。また、非磁性層界面における酸化あるいは窒化の効果や、非磁性層の結晶性がSOTに与える影響を系統的に調べ、SOTを増強させるための指針を得る。
②反強磁性スピントロニクス:「強磁性層 (FM)/非磁性層 (NM)/強磁性層 (FM)」の3層構造を基本とし、反強磁性構造のための層間交換結合と磁化スイッチングのための大きなSOTを両立できる非磁性層材料の探索を継続する。2020年度までの研究により、Ir添加Cuが上記の条件を満たす非磁性層材料の有力候補であることが示された。今後は、Ir添加Cuを用いた構造におけるSOTの評価と並行して、スピンホール効果の温度依存性からその発現機構を調べる。また、2020年度に取り組んだSOTを発生させるNM_S層と反強磁性交換結合を示すNM_I層を組み合わせた「NM_S / FM / NM_I / FM / NM_S積層構造」において、SOTによる磁化反転のメカニズムを調べる。
③スピンカロリトロニクス:引き続き金属人工格子における異常ネルンスト効果を評価する。2020年度の研究より、Co2MnGaホイスラー合金層をAlN絶縁層と組み合わせることで多結晶薄膜においても巨大な異常ネルンスト効果を発現できることが示された。今年度は、Co2MnGa以外のホイスラー合金やAlN以外の絶縁層を用いて金属人工格子を作製し、材料依存性の理解を深めることで異常ネルンスト効果のさらなる増大を目指す。また、非磁性層に絶縁体を用いた人工格子における熱伝導の抑制についても検討する。さらに、計算機シミュレーションによりナノスケールでの熱伝導を理解し、性能指数を向上させるための指導原理を探索する。
