Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本年度は、①スピンオービトロニクス、②反強磁性スピントロニクス、および③スピンカロリトロニクスの各研究項目について、以下の研究内容を実施した。
①スピンオービトロニクス: Pd/Co/Pt積層膜における界面磁気異方性とスピン軌道トルク(SOT)の膜厚依存性について解析を進めた。第一原理計算の条件を最適化させることで実験との定量比較が可能となり、ラシュバ磁場に起因した磁気異方性の発現について実験結果をサポートする結果が得られた。また、Ptのスピンホール効果に対する酸化および窒化の影響については、特に窒化Ptに焦点を絞って膜厚依存性を調べ、窒化によりスピンホール伝導度が増加する傾向が見られた。さらに、強磁性層厚と散乱メカニズムの相関を調べる目的で、Fe-Ni合金層の極薄化による異常ホール効果の符号反転についてその機構を解明した。
②反強磁性スピントロニクス: Pt/Co/Ir/Co/Pt構造を用いてSOT磁化反転の研究に取り組んだ。この構造では、Irを介した層間交換結合(IEC)により反強磁性結合した垂直磁化Co層に対して、上下Pt層からのSOTにより磁化反転が可能となる。2021年度はまず、層厚傾斜を設けることによって反対称のIEC が強く作用することを見出し、反対称IECを活用した新しい磁化反転手法を実証した。また、SOT磁化反転後の磁区観察を行い、SOTによって形成される磁区構造を明らかにした。
③スピンカロリトロニクス: Co2MnGaホイスラー合金とAlN絶縁層を組み合わせた人工格子における異常ネルンスト効果の検討を進めた。その結果、フレキシブル基板上でもCo2MnGaバルク単結晶に匹敵する大きさの異常ネルンスト効果が発現することを見出した。

Current Status of Research Progress

Reason

2021年度の研究内容に関して、研究項目毎に以下の内容を当初計画した。
①スピンオービトロニクス:非磁性層1/強磁性層/非磁性層2における界面磁気異方性とスピン軌道トルクの相関性の解明、積層数の拡張、スピン軌道トルクの最大化
②反強磁性スピントロニクス:材料の最適化による高効率化
③スピンカロリトロニクス:絶縁体と組み合わせた金属人工格子
上記の計画に対し、スピンオービトロニクスでは実験と理論の比較から界面磁気異方性とスピン軌道トルクの相関性に関する理解が進んでおり、スピンホール伝導度を増大させるための新しい指針も得られ始めている。また、反強磁性スピントロニクスに関しては、反強磁性結合した人工格子において、反対称IECの活用がSOT磁化反転の高効率化に繋がることを示唆する結果が得られている。さらに、スピンカロリトロニクスについては、規則合金と絶縁体を組み合わせた人工格子の異常ネルンスト効果へと研究を着実に展開させている。よって、今年度の研究実施内容は計画を概ね達成するものであり、研究は順調に進展しているものと考えられる。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

①スピンオービトロニクス:「非磁性層1(NM1)/強磁性層(FM)/非磁性層2(NM2)」の3層構造を基本とする。非磁性層界面における酸化あるいは窒化がスピンホール効果やSOTに与える影響について、今年度も引き続き検討を続ける。これらの知見を総合し、界面磁気異方性とSOTの相関についての結論を出し、SOTを増大させるための指針を示してスピンオービトロニクスの研究項目を総括する。
②反強磁性スピントロニクス:「強磁性層 (FM)/非磁性層 (NM)/強磁性層 (FM)」の3層構造を基本とし、反強磁性構造のためのIECと磁化スイッチングのためのSOTについて研究を継続する。まずは、反対称IECを用いた無磁場SOT磁化反転を行い、その反転機構の理解を進めることで、IECがSOT磁化反転の高効率化に有用であることを実証する。さらに、磁区構造観察を利用して磁化反転速度の評価に取り組み、反強磁性スピントロニクスにおける金属人工格子の有用性を総括する。
③スピンカロリトロニクス:引き続き、金属人工格子における異常ネルンスト効果を評価する。今年度は、時間領域サーモリフレクタンス法を用いて、Fe系金属人工格子の熱伝導率測定に取り組み、金属人工格子化によって熱伝導率がどの程度抑制されるかを明らかにする。その熱伝導率測定の結果およびこれまで取り組んだ異常ネルンスト効果の結果を総合して、性能指数を向上させるための指導原理を確立し、スピンカロリトロニクスの研究項目を総括する。
