Outline of Annual Research Achievements

酸化物表面上の高原子価遷移金属酸化物種に関する研究課題として挙げられていることとして、貴金属であるレニウム種を貴金属以外の金属種に置き換えることを検討してきた。酸化レニウム種は酸化セリウムを担体として用いると水素を還元剤とする脱酸素脱水反応の有効な活性点となることを示してきた。これに対して、レニウム代替の検討結果、酸化チタン、特にアナタース酸化チタン上の酸化モリブデン種が脱酸素脱水反応の触媒活性点となることが分かった。具体的には、MoOx-Au/TiO2触媒を用いると、1,4-アンヒドロエリスリトールと水素から、2,5-ジヒドロフランが高い収率で得られることを明らかにした。
金属表面上の低原子価遷移金属酸化物種に関する研究成果としては、グリセリンから1,3-プロパンジオール、1,4-アンヒドロエリスリトールから1,3-ブタンジオールの水素化分解反応に有効な触媒の一つとして見出したPt-WOx/SiO2触媒がエリスリトール水素化分解で比較的高い選択率で1,4-ブタンジオールを与えることも示した。また、キャラクタリゼーションの結果、Pt-WOx/SiO2触媒上では白金ナノ粒子とシリカ担体表面上の間に酸化タングステン種が偏在し、活性点となる白金―酸化タングステン界面が効率よく形成された触媒となっていることが示唆された。同時に、ロジウムやイリジウムの(111)表面に蒸着法でレニウムを導入して適切な処理で形成させた酸化レニウム種についてXPS測定を行い、詳細なモデル構造を提案した。
酸化セリウム触媒とするアルコールと二酸化炭素からの炭酸ジアルキルの合成については、2-シアノピリジンを脱水剤として用いた場合には、あまり進行しなかった2級アルコールの反応について、2-フロニトリルを用いることで反応が進行しやすくなることが見出された。

Reason

高性能な固体触媒の開発は、未利用な資源も含む炭化水素系資源の効率的変換を可能にすることが期待され、持続可能社会の構築のために重要な技術として位置づけられ、同時に触媒開発のキーとなる触媒活性点の設計は学術的に非常に重要な課題である。本研究は、酸化・還元や酸・塩基などの様々な反応に有効な新しい触媒活性点を、分子・クラスターと金属・金属酸化物の粒子表面との直接相互作用により構築することを目的とする。具体的な3つの課題は1)酸化物表面上の高原子価遷移金属酸化物種、2)金属表面上の低原子価遷移金属酸化物種、3)酸化物表面と塩基性有機分子の直接相互作用による強塩基点の構築、である。これまで提案してきた触媒活性種及び助触媒が貴金属成分からなっており、貴金属の使用量を低減することや非貴金属元素で代替するための研究を進めてきている。1)については、MoOx-Au/TiO2触媒のようなより安価な触媒の開発にも成功し、さらに、Auを他の非貴金属元素で置き換える研究を進めている。2)については、酸化レニウムの代替として、モリブデンやタングステンを用いた有効な触媒が見出されており、使用量低減や代替という観点で研究が進められ、比較的少量のWを含むPt-WOx系触媒が、Ir-ReOx触媒では困難であった、エリスリトールの水素化分解による1,4-ブタンジオール合成などに有効であり、このような触媒の特徴を引き出すことに成功している。3)については、酸化セリウムと2-シアノピリジンとの組み合わせの有効性を見出してきたが、2-シアノピリジン代替として、2-フロニトリルが有望であることを示している。2-フロニトリルは、フルフラールというバイオマスから合成される化学品からの誘導が可能であることが想定され、持続可能性の向上が期待でき、2-シアノピリジンでは困難であった反応系を2-フロニトリルで実現できることを示した。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

高原子価金属酸化物と酸化物表面との直接相互作用による脱酸素脱水反応用触媒については、MoOx/TiO2触媒をベースとして、水素分子活性化剤として添加してきたAuを代替する非貴金属触媒の開発を行う。また、これまでの研究でNAP-XPS用のCeO2モデル表面が調製できていることをベースに、酸化レニウムを導入し、モデル触媒を調製する。それらのモデル触媒を用いてレドックス特性や隣接水酸基と相互作用した反応中間体などのXPS観測を行う。酸化セリウム種や酸化セリウム表面の化学状態について計算化学と比較対応させて考察する。
金属表面と酸化物種の直接相互作用による炭素ー酸素結合水素化分解触媒については、これまで調製してきたIrやRh上の単結晶表面上にレニウム種を導入したモデル触媒を用いて、基質との相互作用、すなわち基質中の水酸基との反応によるアルコキシド吸着種の生成などに注目したXPSおよびDFT計算による解析を行う。
酸化物表面と塩基性有機分子の直接相互作用を活用した触媒活性点の構築については、2-シアノピリジン代替として有効であることを見出してきた2-フロニトリルについては、2-シアノピリジンでは困難とされてきた2級のモノアルコール(2-プロパノールなど)と二酸化炭素からのカーボネート合成などの研究を継続して行う。また、引き続き、酸化セリウムとの相互作用に関する解析としてNAP-XPS及び計算化学を実施する。
