Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究では、固体内部における、光によって誘起されたアト秒時間スケールのダイナミクスを明らかにするための、超高速軟X線吸収分光の実現を目標としてきた。2018年度は、単純な二原子分子気体(NO)をターゲットとした、光子エネルギー400 eVにおける超高速軟X線吸収分光の実証に成功した。この成果は、2019年度、雑誌論文として発表した。
2019年度は、固体をターゲットとした軟X線吸収分光に着手し、二酸化チタン薄膜の光子エネルギー460 eVにおける軟X線吸収スペクトルの測定に成功した。測定された吸収スペクトルには、内殻のスピン軌道分裂に起因する微細構造が明瞭に確認できた。また、固体サンプルの一光子電子励起が可能な、波長400 nmの超短光パルスの光学系を開発した。得られた光パルスをポンプ光としたポンプ・プローブ軟X線吸収分光により、二酸化チタン薄膜の光誘起ダイナミクスを明らかにできると考えられる。
また、気体をターゲットとした超高速軟X線吸収分光においても、大きな進展があった。本年度は、新たにN2Oをターゲットとした、光子エネルギー400 eVにおける超高速軟X線吸収分光を行った。二原子分子であるNOと比べ、N2Oは三原子分子であることため、より複雑な電子・原子核ダイナミクスが観測された。特に、N2O内の2つの窒素原子において、それぞれの窒素原子の周辺の領域におけるアト秒時間スケールの電子励起過程に違いがある可能性を見出した。この現象について、その起源を明らかにするために、現在第一原理計算を進めている。
以上のように、本年度は、当初の目標であった固体の超高速軟X線吸収分光の成功には至らなかったが、その実現に向けて進展があっただけでなく、気体をターゲットとした実験においても成果を上げることができた。
