Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究においては高強度陽子加速器施設 J-PARC において 30GeV の高強度陽子ビームを使用し、原子核内でベクター中間子を生成し、その電子対への崩壊を利用して核媒質中での質量スペクトル測定を目指してきた。
現在までに本実験のための新規ビームラインとスペクトロメータの建設を進め、2020年1月に遂に完成させた。本年度は 6 月にビームラインとスペクトロメータを合わせたコミッショニングを行い、5×10^9 Hzの本実験で想定しているビーム強度においてスペクトロメータの検出器が概ね正しく動作していることを確認した。
申請者は特にスペクトロメータの中で電子識別の役割を果たす鉛ガラスカロリメータのオペレ ーションとデータ解析を中心に行なった。 具体的にはビーム強度と鉛ガラスカロリメータの計数率が線形の関係にあることを確認した。
これによって高い計数率の環境下でも検出器が問題なく動作していると考えられる。また、電子とπ 中間子などのハドロンに対する応答に関するデータを取得した。取得したデータの解析を行い、ハドロン及び電子に対する検出器の波高分布をそれぞれ調べることで、電子の信号をバックグランドであるハドロンの信号の中から識別できること が明らかになった。
さらに今年 2 月より二度目のコミッショニングを行い、ベクターメソンの生成断面積やスペクトロメータ の分解能の評価のためのデータを取得した。今後は解析を行い、スペクトロメータ全体の質量分解能や電子識別性能の評価を行う予定である。
