|Outline of Annual Research Achievements
1. Crustacean cardioactive peptide (CCAP) is proved to increase starvation resistance, inhibit excretion and induce crop storage. Myosuppressin (MS) is proved to strongly inhibit foregut contraction and elevated both food intake and excretion after synthesized peptide application. Interestingly, in this study, we confirmed their counteraction on food intake and excretion.
2. Identification of all neuropeptides in cricket by RNA-seq and Blast with other model insects. In total, 32 neuropeptides were identified inculding different variants.
3. Figure out each neuropeptide's regulatory function on food assumption, number of feces and their transcriptional level in different state, satiety, starvation and Refed, which could tell us their rough role in energy homeostatsis.

Current Status of Research Progress
2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.
We have been using Gryllus bimaculatus for studying the regulation mechanism of energy homeostasis and figure out regulation mechanism of feeding behavior in the aspect of endocrinology.
For understanding it, this year, I identified the Crustacean Cardioactive peptide (CCAP) and Myosuppressin (MS), elucidated their role in regulation of food intake, starvation tolerance and energy homeostasis. Parts of this results is published in General Comparative Endocrinology as the first author.
Addtionally, I identified all the neuropeptides in the crickets by RNA-sequencing and confirmed their function on food assumption, excretion and First bite time after starvation. Their transcriptional levels after sstarvation and refed were also measured to tell their role in energy homeostasis.
|Strategy for Future Research Activity
Confirming alterations of transcriptional level of neuropeptides under the stimulu of different nutritional states, such as high trehalose or high protein and neurohormone communication to know the comprehensive influence of all the neurohormones identified in the crikcets, which overall could explain the energy homeostasis from the aspect of endocrinology.
RNA sequencing of a specila central nervous system tissue--Corpora cardiaca (CC), which will be proved as a sensory organ between brain and peripheral nervous system. To obtain all the GPCRs in CC and identifed them as different function of GPCRs. Measuring transcriptional changes when the energy homeostasis is interfered by several stimulus to get he dynamic transcriptomic in CC.
