| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The purpose of this study was to develop a language education curriculum that fosters intercultural understanding in school education.
For this purpose, we have conducted research in Taiwan and Australia, which are neighboring countries and regions with advanced intercultural understanding education and language education, to compare and analyze (1) policies for globalization, (2) language education policies and language education curriculum, and (3) intercultural understanding education. Based on this, we have attempted to construct a language education curriculum required in Japan in a globalizing society, to verify its effectiveness, and to make proposals.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
研究の結果、欧州評議会から異文化間理解能力に関する参照枠が存在し、それらを比較・検討した。これらを地域化した上で日本の学校の言語教育に組み込むことで、異文化理解能力を育成できるという示唆を得た。
ただ、コロナウイルス感染症の影響で研究期間を2年延長したが、海外渡航が最終年の後半にしかできず、台湾とオーストラリアで得られた資料を十分に分析する時間が確保できなかった。ここで得られた知見を先ほどの参照枠に組み込むことで、学校教育における異文化間理解能力を育成する言語教育カリキュラムを構築するはずであったが、構築するに至らなかった。
