| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This study aimed to create a comprehensive teaching manual on English pronunciation tailored for elementary school teachers. It began by examining the occurrence rates of both segmental and suprasegmental sounds present in teaching materials for third and fourth graders, serving as foundational data for manual development. The manual itself featured dynamic audio-visual resources showing native English speakers pronouncing English sounds, alongside detailed Japanese explanations on pronunciation and teaching techniques for each sound.
To further empower teachers, an English pronunciation self-learning system via ICT was devised, with its URL integrated into the manual. Additionally, to ensure accuracy, the pronunciation of English alphabet letter names by elementary school students and teachers underwent evaluation by native English speakers and acoustic analysis. These assessments aimed to validate the manual's descriptions, facilitating refinements based on the findings.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
本研究結果から，外国語活動の２年間で英語音声の基本的項目が全て出現し，指導が可能であることが明らかとなった。小学校中学年のこの期間の指導は，大学までの日本の英語音声教育の基礎を成すものと位置づけられ，適切な指導が重要である。しかし，小学校児童や教員の発音の実態を分析した研究はまだ少なく，小学校教員のための発音指導に関する支援は充実しているとは言えない状況である。本研究成果は，このような支援が十分進んでいない分野に一石を投じるものであり，小学校教員が英語音声の基礎知識を得て，自信を持って発音指導を行うための一助となることが期待される。
