Outline of Final Research Achievements |
In this study, I examined the relationship between the center and the regions in education and schools by tracing the transition of the Landschaftsschule and Gymnasium in Linz.Furthermore, I examined the state of middle and higher education. The results of this research revealed the following: (1) In the Habsburg monarchy, the trend toward "centralization of education" strengthened from the late 18th century onward, but there was also room to respond to local conditions and to meet local demands. (2) With the development of the school system, there were various opinions and attempts to create a new category of "secondary education," (3) From the very beginning of the foundation, the role of "educational institution in the region" remained important.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
これまでの研究では、中央の教育政策の検討が中心であった。しかし本研究の結果からは、地方の要望が「地方における教育機関」に対して少なからず影響を及ぼしていたことが明らかとなり、「複合国家」であったハプスブルク君主国において、教育や学校もまた地方の独自性を示すものであることが分かった。
