| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Based on the bibliographic information of design rights, a method to measure the quantitative level of corporate design activities, the structure related to design management, and the quality of design activities was developed. These index were used to analyze the impact of design activities on corporate performance. As a result, it was clarified that the level of design activity has a positive effect on corporate performance, and the effect is about one-tenth that of R & D investment. It was also shown that the structure and quality of design activities also affect corporate performance.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
企業経営において、デザイン活動への期待が高まっている。一方、デザイン活動の効果を定量的に測定する方法がないために、デザイン活動への資源の投入が必ずしも十分に行われていないことが指摘されている。これはデザイン活動に係わる直接的なデータが存在しないことに起因する。直接的に把握することができない場合には、間接的にその活動を把握することが必要となる。間接指標として意匠権の書誌情報を用いる方法を開発するとともに、デザイン活動が経営に実体的に正の効果を与えていることを示した。
