| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The first Bangladeshi immigrants to New York City are proud of the language movement during the East Pakistan era, which was centered on their mother tongue. This movement, broadly recognized as linked to independence in 1971, is deeply connected to their identity. For this reason, from the beginning of their immigration to the US, they believed it was natural to transmit the Bengali, traditional culture, and religion to their children by themselves. In addition, the first generation has a common tendency to form communities with other Bangladeshis who immigrated to the US, exchange information, and give each other mutual support. In contrast, interactions among second-generation immigrants are not necessarily limited to those of Bangladeshi origin. This paper examined the situation of making a decision in which children understand their parents’ thoughts and wishes, yet are also influenced by conversations with their friends and peer effects at school.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
