| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
In this study, we aimed to develop a simulation model to evaluate and predict the potential for substituting community functions using Information and Communication Technology (ICT). Through comprehensive reviews of previous studies on community functions and on-site surveys in multiple areas, we obtained the following results:
1) A study on internet usage and sense of community in mountainous areas (submitted in English), 2) The practice and evaluation of scenario planning workshops (submitted in Japanese), 3) Biases in parliamentary discussions on smart farming policies (submitted in Japanese), 4) The role that media plays in building a related population in mountainous areas (ongoing research in Japanese), 5) The effects of smart farming education on rural settlement and farming (preparing for submission in English), 6) A review paper on community functions (preparing for submission in English).

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
我が国の農村計画学において、集落機能という概念は広く使われているものの、その定義や既往文献における議論の整理は行われてこなかった。本研究で目指した包括的なシミュレ―ションモデルの構築ではあらゆる知見を総動員する視点が必要とされ、集落機能に関するシステマティック・レビューや因果ループ図の構築は初の試みであるといえる。また、フィールドワークに基づいた多角的な調査・実践により集落機能やICTの可能性・課題を検証した点は、他に類をみない。定量的なシミュレーションモデル実行を試みた論文は未完成であるものの、その過程は6つの論文に派生した。得られた因果ループ図は、農村計画の実践で役立てることができる。
