Outline of Final Research Achievements |
We developed a comic book (manga) with health and nutrition information for pregnant mothers with a low pre-pregnancy body-mass-index (BMI). The manga includes information about appropriate weight gain during pregnancy, information about adequate nutrition (with examples) during pregnancy, explanation about adverse health outcomes for the mother and the child when nutrition during pregnancy is not adequate. We also developed a protocol for a randomized controlled trial to test the effect of information delivered through a managa to improve pregnancy and birth outcomes.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
