In this study, we have organized the Japanese correspondence addressed to Zhou Zuoren (1885-1967), a distinguished literary figure of modern China. We published the "Catalog of Japanese Letters Addressed to Zhou Zuoren" which includes approximately 2500 letters and business cards from around 1000 Japanese correspondents, many of whom are eminent writers and scholars. Additionally, the appendix titled "List of Purchased Books" arranges the bookstore delivery notes, preserved alongside the Japanese letters, in chronological order. We have estimated and appended bibliographic details for approximately 700 Western and Japanese books.
The Japanese letters addressed to Zhou Zuoren are primary sources of paramount importance for the study of modern literature in Japan and China, modern Chinese history, and the history of Sino-Japanese exchanges. These letters are expected to significantly deepen and advance future research on Zhou Zuoren and the history of Sino-Japanese exchanges.
