Research Abstract |
Through the studies of the history of children's services in Japanese public libraries and related movements since the end of World War II, the following results were found, 1) the influence of human elements on children's services, and the different trend from the main stream of the history of public libraries in Japan, 2) the difference between U.S.A. and Japan as for the education and career paths of children's librarians, 3) the experience of using public libraries became one of the external factors for the reading in early childhood, and 4) the history of publishing children's books and BUNKO in Japan, and their relationship to children's services.
