Research Abstract |
In this study, I have considered the visual imagination of Czech Art in the 20th century not only from the viewpoint of the art and cultural history, but also in light of the social and political context. In dealing especially with such genres as painting, drawing, photography, film, graphic art, I have elucidated that the characteristic qualities generally arise from the fact that it has developed distinctively in close relationship with the modernist avant-garde aesthetics, particularly surrealism and/or the social and historical circumstances under socialism.
