| Research Abstract |
I published the translation of Therese philosophe with Jinbunshoin. Therese philosophe is one of the most important among the libertine literature in eighteenth century in France. I gave a detailed account of the libertine novel and also of the libertine illustrations in "The explanation of translator" of this book. As we tend to confuse the libertine novel with the pornographic one, I showed the difference between them. I explained carefully the meaning and the role about the libertine novel, like Therese philosophe, and also about the libertine illustrations that have rarely been studied. In the second half of the eighteenth century, French people were heading toward the French Revolution. I pointed out the important role of the libertine literature that caused people to reform their consciousness in such era.
