Research Abstract

本研究は、英国最大手の家電小売企業ディクソンズ社(現在DSGI社)が、(1) わが国カメラの英国への輸入とわが国チノン社との提携によって成長の端緒をつかみ、(2) 競合企業カリーズの買収を機に総合家電小売として成長を遂げる一方で、アメリカ市場参入の失敗による深刻な危機を経験し、(3) これを克服して現在の地位を確立するまでの発展の軌跡を解明し、「漸次的イノベーション」[=画期的な革新とは異なる部分改良型の革新]を同時並行的に継続することの重要性を明らかにした。同時に、わが国独自の系列家電チェーンの端緒を築いた戦前の展開を解明し、独立系企業の近年の展開によって欧米の家電小売業と直接比較研究を行ないうる条件が成熟してきたことを示した。
