Research Abstract

黒潮から北赤道海流から赤道付近の海流まで西太平洋全域を移動していると考えられるコガタウミアメンボは高温耐性が最も強く、分布域が低緯度に限られる種ほど耐性が低い(センタウミアメンボ、ツヤウミアメンボの順に低くなる)ことが分かった。陸水に棲むウミアメンボ科昆虫であるシマアメンボは外洋棲ウミアメンボ(上記3種)よりはるかに高温耐性が強く陸水の激しい温度変動に適応していた。また東インド洋では、2つの海流がぶつかる南緯6度で際立ってツヤウミアメンボの高温耐性が強く、海流が出会う場所でのダイナミックな水温変動への適応と考えられる。また、北緯12度、東経135度の20日間の6月の定点観測では台風発生時における25QC以下の気温低下の頻発が、生息するツヤウミアメンボを消耗させ、高温耐性の低下を招くものと考えられる。とのようにウミアメンボ科昆虫は棲息する水域の温度環境を反映した形で高温耐性の高低を示すものと思われる
