Research Abstract |
Phylogenetic relationships of tetraodontiform fishes within teleosts, of tetraodontiform fishes, and of Takifugu species were clarified using mtDNA full sequences analysis. Hybrid analysis was also performed among 9 Takifugu species using AFLP method. All species other than between T.rubripes and T.chinensis were clearly distinguishable based on species specific AFLP markers. Their hybrids were also discriminated and 46 out of 47 hybrids were those of F1 generation. Developing of convenient primers for specific AFLP markers is needed in order to identify Takifugu hybrids as well as species.
