| Research Abstract |
平滑筋と骨格筋の分化シグナルについて研究した。消化管の平滑筋の分化には骨形成蛋白質(BMP2)と、血小板由来成長因子(PDGF)が関わることがわかった。外縦走筋になる細胞がBMP2を産生して、内輪走筋の分化を誘導する。次に内輪走筋はPDGFを産生放出して逆に外縦走筋細胞への分化を誘導するという相互作用が生じることを初めて明らかにした。マウスES細胞から間葉系幹細胞を作成し、この細胞から骨格筋細胞を分化する方法を確立した。
