Research Abstract

小型魚類は哺乳動物には認められない再生能力がある。化学変異剤により作製した変異体を使って、再生現象を担う遺伝子を発見するためのスクリーニングにおいて、心室形成不能メダカ変異体を得た。この変異体は発生過程において心室筋細胞増殖能力を失っており、心室形成ができずに胎生致死であった。この変異体のポジショナルクローニングをおこなった結果、心筋特異的な細胞外マトリックスに遺伝子変異が存在することを発見した。
