Research Abstract

腎臓は細胞外液の質量を一定に保ち、生命維持に必須な働きをしている.そのために常に一定量の糸球体濾過を維持しなければならない.糸球体濾過ための重要な構成要素になっているのがスリット膜である.スリット膜は、糸球体を覆っている上皮細胞(足細胞)の細胞間を繋ぐ結合装置であり、細胞傷害時に他の細胞間結合装置と移行し合っている.スリット膜の分子構造は明らかになりつつあるが、これと移行し合い、糸球体ろ過調節に与っている他の細胞間結合装置については、ほとんど明らかにされていない.本研究では、この細胞間結合装置の構成分子としてクローディン-6 があることを明らかにした.
