| Research Abstract |
細菌は増殖する過程で他の細菌同士との情報伝達に用いる化学物質を分泌し, その濃度を感知しながら, 自身の特定物質の分泌を制御している。これをクオラムセンシングという。ヒトの歯, 特に象牙質にできた齲蝕の中でひしめき合うように棲息する細菌のクオラムセンシング機構が, どのような因子で制御されているかを検索したところ, バイオフィルムの形成や糖の代謝に関わる遺伝子がこの機構に影響を及ぼすことが明らかとなった。
