Research Abstract

自転軸が歳差運動する球体容器内に流体を充填すると、極めて弱い歳差であっても非常に強い乱流を生成維持させることができることを室内実験により明らかにした。とくに自転角速度の大きさに対する歳差角速度の大きさがわずか5%程度の場合にもっとも発達した乱流が得られる。このことから、歳差運動する容器を用いた(攪拌翼を持たない新しいタイプの)混合器の効率は、このような非常に弱い歳差の場合に最適化されると期待できる。
