| Research Abstract |
メチル水銀中毒(水俣病)の脳傷害の局在性は,脳浮腫形成とそれによる二次的な循環障害に起因するとされる。しかしながら,メチル水銀による脳浮腫形成の分子機構は不明であった。申請者は,メチル水銀が,脳微小血管を構成する内皮および周皮細胞に対して特徴的な毒性を発現することを明らかにした。この結果は,メチル水銀が脳微小血管構成細胞の機能障害を介して脳浮腫を発生させる可能性を示すものである。
