本研究は、実務界だけでなく戦略管理会計の分野で議論されるトップマネジメントが、マネジメント・コントロールに対して果たす役割を、従来と異なる企業の統治構造改革という視点から検討する。
本研究は、企業内部のマネジメント・コントロールのどのフェーズが統治構造改革から顕著に関連して機能し、どのフェーズがあまり関連せずに独立して機能しているのかを明らかにすることから、統治構造に注目する他の会計学の領域や、経営学、経済学の諸研究への波及効果が期待される。また本研究は実務界への貢献にもなると考える。

| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Recently, firms have struggled to reform their governance structures. However, little is known about how firms’ governance structures affect their management control systems.
To examine this gap, we focused on the relationship between firms'governance structures and their management control systems. Specifically, (1) comprehensive literature review, (2) questionnaire survey targeted Japanese firms, and (3) future research avenue with regard to management control systems were presented. The results of this research project contribute not only to academic, but also to industrial fields.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
本研究課題の学術・社会への貢献は、おもに次の3点である。第1は、包括的な文献調査を実施し、マネジメント・コントロール研究がどのような知識を基礎に進展していたのかを明らかにした点である。第2は、日本企業を対象とした質問票調査を実施し、実務に関する広範な知見を提供した点である。最後は、本研究課題での検討をふまえて、研究と実務とのインターラクションの方向性を提示した点である。
