| Outline of Research at the Start |
BL文化はいまや世界各国に広がりつつあるが、その受容のあり方は、それぞれの国で現実のLGBTが置かれた状況によって明らかな違いがある。本研究では、各国のBL文化受容の実態を調査するとともに、それぞれの国でのLBGTの現実とフィクションとの距離のあり方を焦点とする。同時に、日本国内でのBL読者と非読者との間のLGBTに対する認識の差異等についての社会調査を実施し、両者の協力の可能性を検討する。

| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
We conducted overseas surveys in Canada,Mexico,the Philippines,Malaysia,Taiwan, South Korea,Thailand,France,Germany,and other countries to investigate the actual acceptance of BL in each country and its relationship to real-life LGBTQ issues. We also shared our research findings via presentations at AAS and other international conferences.
In addition, we carried out and analyzed two web-based surveys of female BL fans and non-fans, and of gay and bisexual males. We shared a brief report on this survey as well as our survey data online. We also shared the results at the Japan Sociological Society.
Lead researcher Yukari Fujimoto oversaw and helped coordinate “Hajimete no BL-ten” (the First BL Exhibition), which opened in May 2023. In November of that year, we held the international conference “LGBTQ Issues and the Globalization of ‘BL’” which included 19 speakers from 9 countries, presenting in both Japanese and English, and we presented the final report of our research findings.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
日本においては「BLとゲイは対立するもの」という考え方が主流であったが、本研究によって改めて、海外ではBLファンとLGBTQの人々が協力してイベントを行う例が多くあることが確認された。各国でのイベントの特徴を角川武蔵野ミュージアムで行われた「はじめてのBL展」で世界地図にして示し、「BL年表」にもLGBTQに関する事項を盛り込み、両者の関係を示した。
最終国際会議「＜BL>の海外への広がりと、各国のLGBTQ」において各国の事例報告と、特にタイのBL文化についての詳しい報告と討議、女性／ゲイ・バイセクシュアル男性を対象にBLファンと非ファンに分けて行ったアンケート調査の結果も報告・共有した。
