Outline of Research at the Start

湾岸アラブ諸国は独立以降、欧米文化の流入や、周辺諸国との宗派対立を背景に他国との差別化のため、物質文化を用いた国民アイデンティティの形成に取り組んできた。しかしながら、湾岸アラブ諸国が国民アイデンティティを象徴する物質文化として推奨しているモノや国家の語りは、ベドウィン出身（遊牧民）のアラブ部族を中心としており、イラン系移民を含む少数派集団の伝統文化が反映されていないことが指摘できる。本研究は、UAE、バーレーン、オマーンを事例に、イラン系移民女性の衣服を通じたアイデンティティの形成・変容・継承を、湾岸アラブ諸国の国民衣装の成立との相互関係・影響の中で考察するものである。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

採用最終年度の研究実施状況は大きく①アラブ首長国連邦での臨地調査、②海外研究員とのオンライン国際ワークショップの企画・運営、③英語と日本語での論文発表、④国際・国内学会での研究成果発表、⑤民博・特別展への女性用飾面の出展、そして⑤アウトリーチ活動に分けられる。まず、新型コロナウイルス感染症の影響で約２年間中断していたペルシャ湾岸地域での臨地調査を、ドバイ万博終了直前の２０２２年１月から２月の約１か月間、UAEにて実施した。次にS.Zavaree博士学生（ドイツ）とL.Stephenson博士（米国）とともに２０２１年５月にオンライン国際ワークショップを開催した。そして最終年度の論文発表状況であるが、英語論文１本、博士論文英文要旨１本、一般書の分担執筆の日本語論文が１本、研究成果物としての日本語論文１本（非公開）が発表された。また、既に英文学術書の分担執筆のものが２本、英文書評１本、一般書分担執筆の日本語論文が２本採録決定済みである。国際・国内学会での研究成果発表状況については、２件の国際学会での口頭発表と１件のポスター発表、５つの国内学会での口頭発表（特別展ギャラリートークを含む）と３つのポスター発表を実施し、現在取り組んでいるイラン系移民の研究についても貴重なコメントが得られた。また既に海外で２件、国内で１件の口頭発表が受理されている。⑤については、国立民族学博物館で開催された「特別展 ユニバーサル・ミュージアム ― さわる！“触”の大博覧会」に女性用飾面を出展した。同時に公式図録には、出展作品の解説文を現地の文化と交えて寄稿した。最後にアウトリーチ活動についてであるが、明星学園中学校の卒業研究の一環としてインタビューを受けたり、在京UAE大使館のウェビナーシリーズにてUAEの伝統文化の発表・解説を行った。
