Outline of Research at the Start |

Outline of Final Research Achievements |
1) We explored and developed biomarkers for mood disorders, bipolar disorder (BD) and major depressive disorder (MDD). A proteomics method was used to detect candidate biomarkers. We found that platelet derived growth factor (PDGF-BB) may be a candidate diagnostic biomarker between BD and MDD. We have collected longitudinal samples from patients with BD, including treatment-resistant. We plan to explore PDGF-BB and glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor (GDNF) using these newly collected samples. 2) We explored associations among anxiety, depressive mood and precaution behaviors to COVID-19 by using international web-based survey. These results may contribute to overcome the pandemic.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
