本研究では，消費者がOTCや保健機能食品等のセルフケア製品の購入の際に，特に，判断基準となる表示等に関する情報の信頼性や質の担保を図ることを目的に，健康情報資材の内容の記載等に関する有用性評価指標の開発，資材の理解度等を消費者視点で評価するユーザーテストの開発，この両者を組み合わせた評価手法を体系化した統合システムを確立し，それにより情報資材の検証を行い改善を目指すものである．

| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Foods with health Claims play an important role in self-care. Consumers are expected to make a choice based on the product information and to use them appropriately after understanding the information. However, there are many inappropriate information materials and there is no way to evaluate whether the information is appropriate or not in Japan. Therefore, we conducted the following research on the package labeling of this food product.
We developed and evaluated an integrated usability evaluation system that combines (1) an evaluation tool for the creators of materials to verify whether their contents are appropriate and (2) a user test for consumers to verify whether they understand the contents of the materials. As a result, it became clear that the labelling of functional food products and other products was inappropriate in terms of readability and understandability and needed to be improved.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
国内において、健康情報資材の有用性は検証されていない。今回、機能性表示食品および特定保健用食品の表示を取り上げ、作成者（提供者）の視点からその有用性（有効性と安全性に関する情報、およびその読みやすさなど）を評価するための指標を、米国CDCのCCIなどの指標を参考に開発した。また、消費者のヘルスリテラシーを考慮し、消費者の視点で、その表示が理解しやすいかなど情報の有用性についてユーザーテストの手法を開発した。この有用性評価は、情報資材の作成者と利用者両方の視点を取り入れた統合型評価システムとして、他の健康情報資材にも応用が可能である。
