| Outline of Research at the Start |
This research is designed to help students achieve understanding of the sound system of English. A database of storybooks will be created for teachers that includes information on vocabulary, grammatical repetition, rhythm and rhyme. Activity plans and materials will also be developed, focusing on TPR Storytelling. The SECI model will be used to share the teaching method. Cognitive psychology assessment strategies will be used to gauge effectiveness; and the research outcomes will be shared through publishing, presenting, and making the materials and teaching methodology available online.

| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This research project focused on enhancing language learning for young and later adult learners through music, rhythm, and visual scaffolding. In 2019, a searchable online storybook database for teachers was created and foundational research was conducted. In 2019 and 2020 results exploring how music, rhythm, pattern recognition, language chunking, and visual scaffolding aid language education for young learners as well as university age students was presented in Thailand, Cambodia, and in Japan. In 2023, syllable/image cards and their use were shared with teachers from multiple countries. The research during this year also examined visual and auditory scaffolding in language learning, presented at the TESOL International Convention. In 2024 the focus shifted to exploring pronunciation and fluency development in older learners, with a particular emphasis on medical English vocabulary. A teacher-training website has been created based on the comprehensive findings from the project.
