| Outline of Research at the Start |
本研究は、琉球の人々が記した和歌・和文、それらに関する記述のある古文書・古記録を主な研究対象とし、和歌・和文から見た琉球・日本の交流の在り方を考察するものである。薩摩による侵攻を受けた琉球では、薩摩役人との交流の影響もあり、和歌・和文を作る士族が増える。18世紀に盛んになる和歌・和文の内容を読み解き、琉球の人々の和歌・和文の習得の過程を明らかにすることで、近世における琉球と日本の外交や文化交流の在り方への理解を深めることができると考える。

| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The purpose of this study was to investigate cultural exchange between the Ryukyu Kingdom and Japan. The subjects were Waka and Wabun written by Ryukyuan in the Edo period. We interpreted Waka and Wabun, and analyzed the influence of Japan upon the Ryukyu Kingdom.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
本研究では、これまであまり本格的に研究がなされることのなかった琉球士族による和歌・和文をとりあげた。和歌・和文に記された内容からは、近世の琉球と薩摩との交流や、当時の社会や文化を垣間見ることもできる。従来の研究で見落とされがちであった琉球の和歌・和文に着目し、それらの内容を紹介するとともに、琉球における和歌の受容のあり方の一端を提示したのが本研究の意義と言えよう。
