Outline of Research at the Start

本研究は、16-18世紀のドイツ都市社会、とくにザクセン選帝侯領の大学都市ライプツィヒを例に、当時の暴力と名誉の関係及びその変化をたどることを目的としている。
本研究では、当時の法規範だけでなく暴力事件を扱う裁判の記録をも分析し、暴力の経過において中傷や挑発といった名誉に関わる行為とどの程度関連していたのか、どのように加害者が暴力行使を正当化していたのかを明らかにする。さらに、名誉と結びついた暴力の特殊形態としての決闘、とくに学生による決闘に注目する。そして、その概念や形態、領邦政府や大学当局による禁止の論理、当事者と目撃者の認識の相違などを多角的に検討する。
