Outline of Research at the Start

ブラックホールから放射があれば、ブラックホールは最終的に蒸発して無くなってしまうと考えられている。しかし、これを宇宙で直接観測することは難しく、実証困難であった。本研究では、超高強度レーザーを用い、プラズマ中に大振幅の波を励起し、プラズマの密度を変化させることで、この波を加速し、ブラックホールの重力を模擬する。シミュレーションを用いた加速条件の最適化と超高強度レーザーを用いた原理実証を行う。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

ブラックホールから放射があれば、ブラックホールは最終的に蒸発して無くなってしまうと考えられている。しかし、これを宇宙で直接観測することは難しく、実証困難であった。超高強度レーザーにより励起される航跡場(電子プラズマ波)を、プラズマの密度勾配を用いて加速し、加速ミラーとしてブラックホールの地平線を模擬する実験が提案されている。本研究では、数値シミュレーションを用いた航跡場の加速条件の最適化と超高強度レーザーを用いた原理実証を目的とする。理論的には、プラズマの密度とレーザー強度により航跡場の位相速度が決定されるが、超高強度レーザーを用いるとプラズマの状態が著しく変化し、レーザーにも反作用として働き、レーザーパルスそのものも時間空間的に変化する。非一様プラズマ中の超高強度レーザーによる航跡場の加速を、数値シミュレーションにより最適化し、実験的に実証する。
2021年度は、引き続きコロナの影響で海外での実験が制限されているため、国内最高強度のJ-KARENレーザーを用い航跡場の時空間発展を捉える計測器の開発を行った。これまで、レーザー光のプラズマによる散乱(トムソン散乱)の多方向からのイメージングと分光計測を行った。2021年度は分光計測に空間分解を持たせ、その場でのプラズマ温度、密度、および速度の計測を目指した。これまでのトムソン散乱の理論には、線形、定常、平衡という近似が入っており、高強度レーザー生成プラズマにはそのまま適用できず、非線形、非定常、非平衡系における理論を展開している。新しい成果として、高強度レーザーとターゲットの相互作用で生成される強磁場による特徴的なスペクトルの計測に成功しており、強磁場がどのように航跡場の伝搬に影響するか今後調べていく予定である。

Reason

ほぼ光の速さで伝搬する航跡場を計測するには、高い時間分解を持つ計測器が必要であり、台湾NCUの100TWレーザーファシリティではそれが可能である。しかし、コロナウィルスの影響で2021年度も海外での実験は遂行できなかった。2021年度も国内の施設を用いて計測器開発を行い、結果の解析と理論・シミュレーションによる検証をを行なった。超高時間分解の計測手法についても開発中であり、現在の空間分解のある計測器に追加可能である。今後の実験で実装していく予定である。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

コロナウィルスのため依然として先行きが不透明であり、特に台湾での実験は不確定性が大きい。ウェブミーティングを通して、台湾サイドの関係者と連絡を続け、渡航制限が解除されれば素早く共同実験を開始できるよう準備する。これまで得られた実験結果から、広く使われているトムソン散乱理論の限界と、新たな非線形、非定常、非平衡系における理論の必要性がはっきりしいる。また、今年度明らかになった強磁場の生成が散乱スペクトルに与える影響と、航跡場のダイナミクスの変化など、新たな研究の種が多数得られている。今後は、これまで得られたデータとそれを補完するためのシミュレーションを行い、超高強度レーザーによるトムソン散乱理論を構築する。またこれまでの実験から、さらに高時空間分解の計測をすることが、新たな理論の検証にも必要であることがわかっている。時間分解についても、全く新しい手法でこれまで得られていない超高時間分解が可能となってきている。これらの計測器を実装し、航跡場の時空間発展、特に加速について実験的に明らかにする。
