Outline of Research at the Start |

Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Estrogen is an important sex hormone. Following menopause, estrogen synthesis decreases, leading to a variety of skin problems. Stem cells play an important role in homeostasis maintenance. Previously, we show in the young skin, damaged cells are differentiated and eliminated from the skin through cell competition, however by aging, decreased ability of cell competition leads to skin aging phenotypes. In this study, we examine the role of estrogen in skin homeostasis maintenance and aging by focusing on cell competition.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
