Research Abstract |
We aimed to fabricate new rechargeable batteries by using multi-valent cations such as Mg^<2+> and Ca^<2+>. In particular, intercalation of Mg^<2+> and Ca^<2+> into graphite electrode has been studied. As a result, it is found that these cations could intercalate into graphite together with solvent in electrolyte. When ionic liquids were used as electrolytes, only decomposition of ionic liquids took place.
