Research Abstract |
In order to identify the role of physical activity on arterial function, we evaluated the flow mediated dilation (FMD), blood pressure and calculated the energy expenditure by pedometer in male teenagers. Stepwise regression analysis showed that energy expenditure, systolic blood pressure, and age were independent contributors to FMD. Therefore, it appears that spending more time engaging in physical activity have a favorite effect on vascular endothelial function in youth.
