Research Abstract |
I discussed and wrote about American Gothic writings and their authors from international perspectives. I spoke and interacted with international scholars at internatiional Herman Melville conference and William Faulkner conference in 2008 ; I sponsored seminars with an American specialist on Nathaniel Hawthorne ; I made presentations at Edgar A. Poe conferences in both Japan and the United States in 2009 and re-examined his significance as the origin of American Gothic ; I participated in Nathaniel Hawthorne conference and Emily Dickinson conference in 2010 and re-examined 19^<th> century American gothic genre ; I cooperated with The Melville Society and published an essay in a collection of essays on Joseph Conrad and Herman Melville in the same year ; I spoke at Herman Melville conference and MLA convention in 2011 and discussed Melville' s significance in contemporary, globalized contexts with foreign scholars
