Research Abstract |
We have conducted two kinds of test to J.S.L students. Test 1 : In order to investigate the types of errors which J.S.L students make when they type in Japanese using a keyboard, we video-recorded the display while they are typing their responses in Japanese to questions given on the computer display. Test 2 : We have conducted semi-structured interviews about learning environment to them immediately after test 1. The following results were obtained from our analysis. (1) Uighur speakers tend to value fluency than accuracy. (2) Even the error rate is almost same, Mongolian speakers of China evaluate themselves higher than Chinese speakers. (3) Tibetan speakers' error rate is very low. But they feel difficulty in studying Japanese due to lack of knowledge of Chinese characters. (4) Malay speakers tend to overvalue the influence of Chinese characters.
