液晶高分子の分子配向を活用する高分子/無機機能性複合体の構築

Research Abstract

歯や骨などの生体内部で作り出される有機/無機複合体は温和な条件で形成する精緻な構造を有する環境適応材料と考えられる。これまでにこのバイオミネラルの形成過程に倣い、高分子の相互作用を利用して人工の有機/無機複合体の構築を行ってきた。
本研究では液晶性を示す有機化合物をテンプレートに用いて、無機微粒子の結晶成長を行う事により、その配向制御を試みた。炭酸ストロンチウムはその強い負の複屈折率を有することから、光学材料の添加剤に利用されている。平成21年度は液晶性有機高分子をテンプレートに用いて炭酸ストロンチウムのナノ結晶を温和な条件下において結晶化させ、巨視的に配列した有機/無機複合体を作製することに成功した。結晶成長溶液におけるストロンチウム濃度の違いにより、得られる結晶の配向やモルホロジーが変化した。これらの薄膜は、巨視的に配向を揃えており、偏光顕微鏡観察において、ステージの回転に伴い明暗を繰り返した。テンプレートとなる液晶キチンマトリクスのキチン繊維の表面官能基の配列が薄膜結晶の成長に影響を及ぼした。透過型電子顕微鏡による電子線回折測定は、炭酸ストロンチウム結晶の(001)面、または、(110)面がキチンマトリクスの表面と相互作用していることを示した。
このような配向制御の知見を生かして、層状水酸化コバルト/イオン液体複合体の構築や有機高分子マトリクスの熱架橋による炭酸カルシウム薄膜の3次元凹凸構造の形成制御を行った。
