Research Abstract

硫化水素を分解し水素を得ることは、無害化に要する膨大な化石エネルギー保全と環境問題への配慮、薪エネルギー(水素)生成を同時に達成可能な夢のような技術といえるが、たった1点だけ大きな障害があることから頓挫している。その障害とは副産物のポリ硫化物イオン(S_x^<2->)の存在であるが、塩基性溶液から単純な正-負の電位差による吸着特性を用いてS_x^<2->を回収することは出来ない。一方、イオン的な相互作用を全く生じない環境下でも炭素クラスターであれば硫黄と相互作用することが示唆される。この様な観点から、炭素クラスターを用いれば、塩基性水溶液中のポリ硫化物イオンを吸着除去可能であるとの着想に至った。そこで、本研究では以下の項目の研究開発を行うことで、炭素クラスターによるS_x^<2->の回収方法の確立を目的とする。1)炭素クラスター溶液を用いたポリ硫化物イオンの液-液抽出挙動の解明、2)ポリ硫化物イオンの吸着構造の解明による、本手法のメカニズムの考察、3)回収されたイオウ種の脱離手法(主に昇華)の開発、4)回収されたイオウ種の有効利用法の開発(希薄金属イオン種の回収など)
平成21年度は、炭素クラスターと有機溶媒の間の相互作用について検討し、析出挙動の解明及び反応機構についての検討を行った。その結果、本反応は、水-トルエン界面におけるポリ硫化物イオンの硫黄への転化が第一段階として進行し、生成した硫黄がトルエン層へ移動(溶解)した後にC_<60>S_<16>等のフラーレン-硫黄化合物を形成するという反応機構を明らかとした。
