Research Abstract |
This research have surveyed about the impact of internationalization of hypermarkets on the local economy, especially consumers and distributers in Ubon Ratchathani in the northeastern Thailand. There are three hypermarket stores in the city area of Ubon which population is about only 100 thousand, and the impacts of them to local city planning, distribution and commerce are wide. It showed the chance of business of personal stores was pressed and the town area became hollow by hypermarkets, although the increase of close was not seen in the statistics. Hypermarkets have grasped the customers which are high volume consumer in Ubon, because 85.7% of household which monthly income is more than 5000 baht (5400 dollars of annual income) have shopped to hypermarkets. The profile of typical consumers (young family, vigorous purchasing of consumer goods, high ration of owning of automobiles, less expenses on housing and medical infrastructure) was also seen.
