Research Abstract |
The research has revealed that"a hybrid structure of lumber and brick"was deliberately applied to buildings for the Yokosuka Arsenal, well understanding the resource condition of less quality stone in Japan and the advantages of lumber, popular material in Japan, for resistance to seismic shocks and the brick wall for fire resistance. The article also tells that the Arsenal was taking the initiative in utilizing modern construction materials.
