Research Abstract |
As the results of the research in Italy in 2008, it is clarified that the dedication of Gallarati chapel at St' Angelo Church in Milan to Saint Catherine was related to the veneration of Gallarati family to the sanctuary of this saint. Besides this, the research about another sanctuary at Inverigo, near Milan leads to the other problematic of the relation between the art and pilgrimage in the age, and censorchip and survive of images rooted in popular piety in the age of Catholic Reform. And it is examinedthe conflict between milanese local artists and "forestiero (foreigner)" artists at Milan in late sixteenthe century under French or Spanish domination ; in the context a contemporary Milanese critic wrote the very severe sarcasm about Campi's works at Gallarati chapel.
