Outline of Research at the Start

本研究は,交通工学理論と機械学習を融合した新たな道路交通マネジメント方法論を確立する.まず,理想的状況下での交通システムの最適状態とその達成方法を交通工学理論に基づき導出する.また,現実的な観測データに基づくシステム全体の状態の推定手法,短期将来予測手法等の推定手法を機械学習などに基づきそれぞれ構築する.最後に上記の成果を融合し,部分的に観測される交通データを所与とし,システム状態・利用者選好を逐次的に推定・更新しつつ,理論的な社会最適状態を達成するための方策を探索的に発見する交通システム制御手法を構築する.そして,実際の交通ビッグデータおよびシミュレーションを用い,提案手法の性質を検証する.

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

3年目の研究計画は以下のようなものであった:各方法論を統合し,交通シミュレーション基盤上に実装する.テーマ A では,前年度までに開発した交通流最適化手法および交通状態推定手法を同基盤上に実装する.テーマ C では,前年度までに開発した需要情報推定・将来予測手法を同基盤上に実装する.テーマ B では,初年度に開発した交通システム制御手法を同基盤上に実装する.その入力はテーマ A,B の出力に基づくものとし,全テーマがシミュレーション基盤上で統合される.この際に用いるシミュレーション基盤は,瀬尾のこれまでの研究で開発したものを用い,研究の効率化を図る.
テーマAでは,様々なデータに基づく交通状態推定手法の開発や適用が進んだ.特に,高度な統計手法の応用により新規性のある手法を複数提案した.
テーマBでは,移動体観測に基づく深層学習を用いたネットワーク交通状態の表現や,携帯電話位置情報に基づく交通需要変化などがなされた.特に,本科研費プロジェクト中にはCOVID-19が発生し研究計画の大きな変更と予算の繰越を伴う遅延を余儀なくされたが,COVID-19が交通に及ぼした影響について,研究計画変更に見合う様々な知見が得られた.
テーマCでは,交通流シミュレーション基盤の実装が大いに進んだ.その際,既存の交通流理論やシミュレーション手法の広範なレビュー,それに基づく適切な方法論の選択,その汎用性のあるPython実装を行った.そして,それへの開発中の強化学習ベースの交通制御手法の実装が進んだ.しかしながら,強化学習ベースの交通制御手法は完成には至っていないため,今後の研究継続が必要である.

Reason

「研究実績の概要」で述べた通り,予定通りやそれ以上の実績が得られた部分と,若干の遅延のある部分があった.そのため,総合的に見ておおむね順調に進展していると考える.

Strategy for Future Research Activity

今後は,COVID-19によって生じた特異交通現象の分析による知見を踏まえつつ,これまでの研究成果の交通制御手法への組み込みを重視して研究を進める.
